Under the Military Bounty Land Acts of July 9, 1788 (Journals of the Continental Congress, v. 34, p. 307-308), the Federal
Government granted public land to veterans and heirs of Veterans of the Revolutionary War. Under an act of June 1, 1796
(1 Stat. 490), a U.S. Military District in Ohio was reserved solely for the use of these warrants. (Taken from the
introduction of Ohio Military Land Warrants 1789-1801. Jackson, Ronald Vern, ed. North Salt Lake, Utah: Accelerated
