James George Cashell emigrated to Maryland around 1769. Family story contends he was born around 1748 in County Tipperary. He fought in the Revolutionary War and records from the time he arrived in Maryland are pretty solid.  I’ve been trying to find any information about him in Ireland.  I suspect he changed his name after deboarding whatever ship he came on and came from the Cashel Rock area of Tipperary.

Also went by George on a few records, and named his son George.  James married Charity Mary Wade, a cousin of the Magruders and they were either gifted or bought land in the Olney/Brookeville area of Maryland next door to her cousins.  There is an elementary school and a road named after the Cashell family there.  James had three children, and his son George had 10 children.

Thank you for any help or info you are able to give.
