DICKINSON

Ann Dickinson McHugh asked 4 months ago

Lawrence Dickinson, born 1859 in Great Crosby, England stayed with his parents William Dickinson and Mary Lunt and his siblings in Richmond Row, Great Crosby roughly until the age of 9/ 10 years then along with his younger brother Thomas (born 1862 in Great Crosby) they seem to have been placed in a Boy’s refuge/ Industrial School in St Ann Street, Liverpool ( 1861 England Census shows this). They appeared to have been taught in the art of printing.
In 1881 Lawrence and Thomas appear to be living in Limerick, mid west Ireland, working as printers; Lawrence married there  in 1879, Thomas in 1882. They raised their children and continued to work for the Limerick Leader newspaper  until retirement age.
