This index was created through a collaboration between the Balch Institute Center for Immigration Research and the John F. Kennedy Trust of Wexford County, Ireland. Together, these organizations selected, organized, and presented the information to make Irish immigration data more accessible to researchers and family historians.

The records in this collection come from ship manifest schedules preserved at the National Immigration Archives in Philadelphia. This archive is one of the largest repositories of European immigration records in the Western Hemisphere, maintaining detailed U.S. passenger lists from 1820 until the years leading up to World War I.

If you are tracing Irish ancestors who arrived in America during the mid-1800s, this index is a valuable resource. It provides verified data drawn from official passenger lists, making it easier to discover when your family arrived, which ships they traveled on, and where they landed.
