This index has about 108,000 marriage records. The records come from counties in Arkansas, California, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, and Texas. They cover the years 1728 to 1850. Many of these places were still part of the early frontier.

Most records list the names of the bride and groom. They also include the date of the marriage and the county where it took place. Not all counties or years are covered, but the index is still a helpful place to start.

Once you find a name, you can look for more. Try church books, newspaper clippings, or marriage papers. These may give more details, like names of family members or where the couple lived.

This index is useful if your family moved between states. It can help you track their path and find more relatives across the western and central U.S.
