How to Research Marriage Records in Kentucky (1851–1900)
This index includes about 318,000 people who were married in Kentucky between 1851 and 1900. The records come from 62 different counties across the state.
Each entry usually lists the names of the bride and groom. It also gives the date of the marriage and the county where it happened. While not every county is included, the index is a great place to start.
Once you find a name, use it to look for more records. Church books, newspaper notices, and courthouse files can give more details. These may include family names or where the couple lived after the wedding.
If your ancestors lived in Kentucky during the mid-to-late 1800s, this index can help you learn more about them and how they started their lives together.
