For September, I’m giving away a cornerstone genealogy reference: The Researcher’s Guide to American Genealogy, Second Edition by Val D. Greenwood.
This is an older edition of Greenwood’s work, but it remains one of the most respected and practical genealogy reference books ever published. Over the years, Greenwood has released several newer editions with updates and expansions. If you prefer to have the most current version, those are widely available for purchase. But the 2nd edition still delivers Greenwood’s classic, detailed explanations of census schedules, courthouse records, military service files, land deeds, and church registers—all the essential record groups genealogists rely on.
Unlike many genealogy books that only tell you where to look, Greenwood explains why records exist, how they were created, and what hidden clues researchers can uncover. That’s why this book continues to be called the “genealogist’s bible,” even decades after its first printing.
The hardback copy I’m giving away comes from my personal collection. It carries some notes and markings from my own years of research—adding a bit of character—but it’s still in excellent condition and ready to help another genealogist in their family history journey.
If you’d like to add The Researcher’s Guide to American Genealogy to your own genealogy library, simply enter below. The giveaway closes on September 19.
