I am giving away a copy of The Politzer Saga by Linda A. Broenniman. This is a true multi-generational family story that follows eight generations of Hungarian Jews over roughly 300 years, from the 1700s through major turning points in European history.

What pulled me into this one is how it began. Linda learned as an adult that her father was Jewish, even though she was raised Catholic. Years later, after a house fire, one rescued box of family material became the starting point for her research. That box included old photographs, postcards, documents, and notes, many in Hungarian and German. She used those pieces to rebuild a long family story that had been kept quiet for decades.

This is not a short family sketch. It is a full saga. You see the family in normal life across generations, work, education, marriages, moves, and you also see what happens when history turns dark. The book does not skip the pressure placed on Hungarian Jews over the centuries, and it does not look away from the Holocaust and its aftermath.

One detail that sets this book apart is its connection to a permanent public exhibit at the Rumbach Street Synagogue in Budapest. The family story and the research behind it became part of a museum-quality presentation, featuring short films and archival materials. That is rare for a family history project, and it demonstrates the depth of this story.
