CLIMPSON

Catherine Climpson asked 3 years ago

My husband's Grandfather was a Barnardo boy in England; his name was George Frederick Owen Climpson.  His mother, Emily was in a workhouse in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, in England.  George traveled to Canada alone in 1911 at the age of 11.  He ended up on a farm; working for Canadians that treated him like a slave.  He nearly froze and starved to death.  He never had any happiness until he grew up and married his wife and had a family of his own.  He never saw his mother after she left him at the orphanage.
