John Hostage was a Proctor at a Catholic church in Cheshire (I think) There is a brick paver in the walk with his name on it. We have coat of arms or family crest which shows an Ostridge. We cannot find anything out about the name.

Greetings, Deanne, if you are still available through this source. I am married to a direct descendant of this John Hostage. Take a look at the Hostage Family Tree on Ancestry which I have open to the public since Hostage is such an unusual name. “Hostage” appears to have its derivation north of Cheshire Co., England, and it is from a person who is a hostager (an innkeeper). Let me know if you find anything else.
