I have been told it is the English translation of POCHET (sp??), supposedly a French name. I have not been able to verify that information.  It was the first name of my mothers’ sister and the middle name of my great-grandfather.  Posey Anne Newman and Jacob Posey Newman.  I have been doing my genealogy since 1963 and still am looking for information on the name “Posey”.
