Francis Wainwright, an early Puritan settler in New England, was one of the wealthiest men in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the seventeenth century. His unusual headstone in Ipswich’s Old Burying Ground reflects the wealth and standing he enjoyed in life. But the treasure he is said to have left behind has never been found.
When their grandmother’s will is read, Christine, Adam, Grace, James, and Emily inherit an unusual family legacy: generations of unfinished research into Wainwright’s lost treasure, along with a log documenting their ancestors’ search.
Determined to discover the truth, the five continue the search. Along the way, they uncover clues, valuable antiques, unexpected discoveries, and a deeper understanding of what it means to research your family’s past.
Was Francis Wainwright’s treasure real? And if they find it, will it be the treasure their family has been expecting for generations?
