SPIELMAN

Gerald (Jerry) Spillman asked 3 years ago

Searching Spillman relatives/immigrants from Bayern/Prussia Germany with similar name.
Particularly interested in a Henry or Heinrich/Heimrich who was born in Germany, died in the US approximately 1852.  His widow named Sarah Dolcater b. 2-15-1816 d. 1-19-1891, married a Mr. Schundelmeier in 1853.
Spillman children were named Henry, William, George.  Henry and George were in the Civil War as Illinois Volunteers.  Schundelmeier children were named Elizabeth (Libby) and Sarah.  Have some information of most ancestors who followed in Spillman line.
Also interested in information about George Spielman/Spillman, who farmed at Firth, Nebraska for a time, believed to be same George as mentioned in this family.

My ancestor was Maria Catherine Fishback who married John Spielmann from Germany. He died while there and she married the man who would become my GGrandfather. Her mother was Elisabeth Heimbach. They were part of the  first colonists at Germanna Colony in Virginia in 1714. The best place for you to start is with the Germanna Foundation organization. They have records but you will need to join the organization to access their records.  You’ll be glad you did!

Thank you, Karen.  Out tie into Germany, it seems, was much later.  I did see some of your research work on other sites, however, we are now exploring the name Spilman, particularly John George, both Sr and Jr, the Sr having been born about 1787 in Germany, and the Jr. about 1812 also in Germany.  These two emigrated to USA, and are seen in the 1850 Census.  The original search for Henry Sr is off, as this would have been the same person who has been documented as John George Spilman Jr at Mason County, Illinois in the 1840’s through 1860’s.
